Dr. Bautista is associate director of the Methodology & Quantitative Social Sciences department at NORC at the University of Chicago, where he is co-principal investigator and director of the General Social Survey (GSS). During his tenure at NORC, he has contributed to the design and execution of major government- and privately funded projects, covering qualitative and quantitative aspects. René’s professional experience at NORC has provided him with an excellent understanding of critical topics in the survey industry. Whether it is the continually evolving methods of data collection, a growing distrust of surveys, or issues in communicating and interpreting findings, his work has supported clients, the public, the media, and academics alike.
Tenia is a senior vice president and the first-ever chief human resources officer at NORC. She has deep experience that spans the HR spectrum, including achieving operational excellence, implementing process and procedure standardization cross-organizationally, overseeing organizational development and training, compensation and benefits, workplace planning and recruitment, HR analytics, and embedding DREI initiatives.
Jessica Grant is the Associate Director of Research and Director of the Certificate in Survey Science at the Odum Institute for Research in Social Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She provides consultation to students, faculty, and staff on designing and managing survey research projects. Prior to joining the Odum Institute, Ms. Grant was a Research Survey Scientist and Administrative Manager in the Public Health and Clinical Research program within RTI International’s Survey Research Division for over 13 years.
Dr. Todd BenDor is the Director of the Odum Institute. He is also the Distinguished Professor of Sustainable Community Design in the Department of City and Regional Planning and the UNC Institute for the Environment. Dr. BenDor’s research and teaching focus on improving our understanding of the impacts that human activities and development can have on sensitive ecological and environmental systems.
